Sports Family?

While driving the other day, we passed my High School.

Mommy - "See that building over there? That is where I went to High School."
Brother - "Cool! Did you play football there?"

Long Week

Well, it has been a busy week. Lots of family came to town for Gramps funeral and it was great to see everyone. We spent many nights looking at old pictures and telling old stories. He was a great man and we are very lucky to have had him in our lives.

We didn't tell Brother about what happened to Gramps until Monday. We were a little nervous about telling him since Gramps was the first person close to him (that he could remember anyway) that had passed away. We also didn't want to take away his birthday excitement(especially since Gramps passed away on his birthday). He had his birthday party planned for that Saturday and he was counting down the days. One good thing is that he never questioned the big family dinners or all of the family that came to town, he was just happy to play with the cousins. The first time he said anything was Sunday night when we had the family dinner at Granny's retirement center's clubhouse. On the way home, Brother mentioned that Gramps had to stay by himself at his house all night (since he knew that we were at their clubhouse and he didn't see him). He fell asleep in the car on the way home, so we didn't have a chance to talk to him that night, but we knew that we couldn't hold out any longer.

The next day Daddy told him that Gramps had died and that we all miss him very much. Brother paused for a minute and then asked "who killed him?"...Ok, we now know that he has been watching too much Star Wars! He did take the news very well, only questioning his age (he thought that you died when you got to 100 and Gramps was only 87). We should never had worried about him. He is a special little boy!

On to a new week and back to our daily lives and routines.

Happy Birthday Brother!

Six years ago today we were blessed by your arrival. How could we have known that such a small little baby would change our lives so much and bring us so much love?
Here are some of our favorite pictures of you as a baby and toddler.

What a cutie!

Birthday Cupcakes

We decorated cupcakes tonight for Brother's big day tomorrow! He is going to bring these treats to share with his buddies at daycare.
Make sure that you put enough sprinkles on...

I know that look! How did the frosting get on your cheek?..
What a great job!

Don't forget to clean up the mess!

Some Family Pictures

When cousin G was here, we brought over dinner one night to Granny and Gramps. It was a great night! We had so much fun talking and laughing, it was great. Of course I had to take out my camera and take some family photos.

Can you see how little respect I get...

Much better!

I Love Mommy The Best

Brother told me that he loves me the 'best' yesterday! Even after I made him do his homework that he was whining about (write the numbers 1-100 - "it takes to loooooong"). That was a first (usually it is Bugs that he loves the 'best'). Not that I am encouraging that he pick a favorite, since I believe that everyone should love everyone equally (yes, only child syndrome), but I will cherish this moment. Especially since it probably won't come very often...

Big Help

We have been having quite a bit of snow lately, and it is really nice to know that help is always available...

Good job Bugs! Way to be a 'team' family player!
Wait a minute, where are you going? The job is not done yet!
Send in the relief help, good thinking!

Who Loves Mommy?

We do! We do!!

Boys Will Be Boys

Daddy and Cousin G. decided to have a race to see who was the fastest...

Hmmm... I don't think that it was Daddy's day...
Now, Cousin G. is trying to set a good example to the kids.
Brother, close your eyes!

Ta Daaa!

Did you have fun at the park today, Brother?

More Sled Fun

Mommy asked Brother to go sledding with her. When he said that he didn't want to (he preferred to go solo on his tube), her parenting skills jumped into action and she told him, 'too bad' and 'I'm the mom, that's why'. Needless to say, he realized how much faster and farther you could go with two people.
Always listen to your mother!

Bugs, do you want to go down the hill again? No? Ok, stay there and eat your cracker.
You are lucky that you are still the 'baby'.

Brother, you are taking a risk going with Daddy!

You and Daddy went pretty far!

Make it go faster Cousin G!
