Dairy Days Parade

Every year our little city celebrates "Dairy Days" in honor of our agriculture background. We went to the parade this year and it was a lot of fun! It was in the evening and the weather was great. We are trying to do a lot more community events, especially the "free" ones!

The Guest of Honor!

Brother really liked this "Cattle Roundup". It was pretty impressive.
Pretty clever I thought!

I thought this one was funny "Hay in one end, Milk out the Udders!"

Brother liked the skateboarding cow.

Another funny one. However, with reality, it is pretty scary right now...

What a good big brother! When the fire trucks went by and blasted their sirens, he covered up Bug's ears. What a sweetheart.
Some people got pretty creative with the theme...
Are you having fun! Oops, sorry I interrupted you with this silly camera. You can get back to what you were doing (which I think was scouting out candy).

Hey cute girl! It looks like you found a piece of candy. Are you having fun?

Third Week Is Over!

I survived my third week of summer school. I am over half way done (only two weeks left). Last week I only had 3 quizzes and a research and writing assignment, pretty light load. However, I do have a test on Monday (tomorrow), so I should be studying for that instead of procrastinating... I think I am starting to get burned out with this very fast pace. Good thing I only have two weeks left!

Second Week Is Over!

I have survived my second week of school! This week I completed 2 quizzes and took my first test. I got an 'A' on my test, however I am not basking in the glory, since I know that I should have gotten a better score (I am very hard on myself I guess). I think that I am out to prove to myself (and anyone else who cares), that you are never too old to go back to school and do well. Even if you have a full time job...and a family with small children...and your class is regarding federal taxation and all of the laws that comes with it... Wow! I guess I need to keep proving it to myself so that I don't give up and hide under my bed...

Daddy has been great these last few weeks. He is very supportive of me, and I appreciate it. He is doing a good job of running the household when I am upstairs trying to study. He is doing so well, that I told him that he might get a promotion (more work without any more "pay"). He didn't think that was very funny. I think he might be scared that it may become a reality. Actually, he likes going around saying that he is married to a college student. I think it make him feel young! It brings him back to the old days when I was in college, before we had a mortgage, being responsible for little children, only having beer and pizza in our refrigerator, being able to stay up late at night (playing pool or darts) and still able to get up early the next morning, did I mention mortgage?

Since I have been in school, life has been still been going on around me. I will try and post some pictures of what the kids have been up to this weekend. All I have to do this weekend is complete a Tax Return Assignment, work on the next Research and Writing assignment, read 3 more Tax Court cases, and get started on reading my book regarding tax policy for the extra credit book report assignment. Should be a slow weekend... If you can't find me, check under the bed...

First Week Is Over!

I survived my first week of class! I have proven to myself that I still have it in me, I can still keep up with young college students. This week I have completed 4 quizzes as well as complete a research assignment. I even received a 100% on the first 3 quizzes (still waiting on the scores for the other quiz and research assignment)! I need to work hard to keep this momentum up for 4 more weeks.

I am telling you , what could be more interesting than federal taxation...

Back To School!

Well, the secret is out. I started school today! I am taking an accounting class at the university, "Survey of Federal Income Taxation". Sounds like fun, doesn't it!

Am I excited? YES
Am I nervous? YES
Am I scared? YES
Still excited? OH YEA!

It has been 11 years since I was in school, and I didn't have kids back then. It will be interesting. However, I am very blessed to have a supportive husband and extended family to lean on. Which I intend to take full advantage of!

Heart Broken

So it happened yesterday, Brother broke my heart. It is not the first time and I am sure that it will not be the last (we haven't even hit the teenage years yet!). Daddy was working yesterday, so I thought that it would be fun to take Brother to a movie and ditch the house work for a little while. I had arranged for Grandma to watch Bugs during her nap while Brother and I went to the movie. We get in the car to go to Grandma's. Brother asked if he got to decide if he wanted to stay at Grandma's with Bugs or go to the movies. I told him that Bugs and Grandma are going to take a nap, so if he stayed, then he would have to take a nap also. He was silent for a minute and then said fine, he would take a nap.

WHAT!!

This is when I turned around and we went home. Back to house work. Daddy said that I shouldn't take it personally. How can I not? He would rather go to Grandma's and take a nap than go on a special date with me at the movie theatre and eat popcorn?! Yea, I take it personal...However, I also know that with parenthood comes joy and heartache. I just wish it didn't hurt so bad...
