Bugs vs. The Potty - Final Post

Yep, as the subject of this post states, the "potty weekend" didn't go very well. Mommy's final score was a big fat zero. We pretty much stopped on Sunday. The final straw was when Bugs was watching the potty video (which she loves), there is a cute little song/jingle that they sing while a bunch of babies/toddlers are all dancing around. It goes something like this:

"Let's all go to my potty, potty...Now we're going to my potty, potty..."

Anyway, Bugs thought she was being funny and changed the words:

"Let's go diaper, diaper..."

Funny girl...

She did sit on the potty a little more, when she asked to, but I wasn't very concerned about it. We may try another "potty weekend" in a month or two.

Bugs vs. The Potty - Day 3

Not very enthusiastic this morning. I think I am getting discouraged. Bugs is definitely stronger willed than I, and I believe that she is winning at this game of ours.

Bugs vs. The Potty - Day 2

UPDATE: Not looking very good for mom. Final score was Bugs-4, Mommy-0.

It is a new day! I have washed the training pants from yesterday and they are ready to go. We are very hopeful this morning. So far we have only sat on the potty once, but Bugs is very enthusiastic about going pee-pee in the potty.

Bugs vs. The Potty

FINAL UPDATE: Well, it was a rough first day. Everything was good until about 4pm. After that Bugs pooped in her training pants twice and peed in them once. We then put on a pull-up and went to grandma's house. We brought her potty along, but she didn't want anything to do with it. The final score was: Bugs-4, Mommy-0.

UPDATE: I changed her juice cup to a milk cup, since she didn't seem to like the juice that I had in her cup. I will have to find something that she likes and will drink lots of. I finally wised up and put a chair in the bathroom. You can only sit on the edge of the bathtub for so long.

UPDATE: Bugs woke up from her nap dry, so we rushed to the potty! I know that she has to go since she hasn't gone all day. We sat and read lots and lots and lots of books, we painted our toe nails and finger nails. I refilled her juice cup. We switched from the little potty to a seat on the big potty with a stool. She really likes that. We sat for about an hour. Nothing... We'll try again, if we don't have an accident. Cross your fingers!

UPDATE: I have a helper! It is so nice that Brother is learning to read!

UPDATE: Is it not a good sign when Bugs says over and over (like a broken record) "potty in pants" and I respond "no, pee pee in the potty, not the pants". This could come down to a battle of the wills. Who will win?

Today is the big day! The plan (subject to change at any time due to mental health) is to start potty training Bugs! So far we have sat on the potty a couple of times (roughly every 30 minutes), read lots of books and watched the potty movie. However, nothing accomplished yet. Something should happen within the next 4 days that we are planning to do this. I will keep track of updates.

New Word

Bugs has a new favorite word, yep she does! Conversations in our house go something like this:

Mommy - "Did you have a good nap?"
Bugs - "Yep."

Mommy - "Are you all done eating?"
Bugs - "Yep."

Mommy - "Do you want to go outside?"
Bugs - "Yep."

She says it in a soft wispy voice, and it just makes you want to give her lots of kisses! However, almost anything she says or does make you want to give her kisses, so that is old news...

Brother's Good Deeds

I bought Brother something last night (a memory card for his PlayStation, we didn't have one) as a surprise. However, he wasn't being very good, so I didn't give it to him. I wanted to wait for another time when he was extra special. So today he happened to find it on the counter (I guess I should have hid it better). He knew immediately what it was. I told him that he could open it if he was good today. So, needless to say, he has been extra helpful today. He jumps when I ask him to do things for me, he helped me put the groceries in the car and bring them in the house, he opens car and store doors for me and even helps to unbuckle Bugs from her car seat. He has been on his absolutely best behavior today, and in a good mood to boot! No arguments all day, no whining, no fighting with Bugs, I love it! I am a little upset that I have to give him the card as I don't want this wonderful day to end...

Actually, Brother is really good most of the time. It was just funny today to watch him as he rushed to the door so that he could open it for me. Or watch him and Bugs fumbling with her car seat buckle as they tried to undo it before I got to her door.

Dancing Queen

While we were watching a movie today, some music came on. Bugs jumps off of the couch and starts dancing. I laugh and tell her what a good dancer she is. Brother doesn't seem very impressed and says that she isn't dancing she is "just shaking her booty." All night Bugs has been dancing around saying "shake booty."

Speaking of dancing, Bugs loves to spin around and around. Maybe she isn't "spinning", maybe she is just "twirling"...

It sure is different having a girl around the house. But also lots of fun!

Photo Shoot

Last week when the weather started getting nice, we went to the park so that I could practice with my camera. Out of the many photos that were taken, these were the best. Not bad for some Mother's Day presents!

We'll see if the kids are still smiling by the end of summer and many more camera outings!

Girl'y Lips

Last week Brother was talking to Grandma Colleen.

Brother - "I know what I want to get my mom for Mother's Day."
Grandma - "You do? What do you want to get her?"
Brother - "Some flowers and make-up."
Grandma - "What kind of make-up?"
Brother - "Some red lipstick so that her lips look like a girls."

Grandma told me this story and I thought it was pretty funny. I guess I need to start wearing more lipstick so that I can have girl'y lips!

Dance Party

Last night while I was making Bugs a pizza (actually it was a cheese quesadilla, but she doesn't know any better. Hey, when your daughter only eats hot dogs and pizza, you have to get creative!), I came up with a little song. Bugs just loved it! She was dancing around and singing it with me. Brother even started singing it. Needless to say, it was a huge hit with our family.

The song went like this - "Pizza pizza pizza....pizza pizza...pizza pizza pizza...pizza".

I am just amazing when it comes to making up songs!

Soccer Star

Brother is playing soccer this spring again, and he is getting really good! Just look at the way he wrangles the ball!

Careful!
CRASH! It looks like we will be investing in cleats for the fall.
Hey cute pie! Great sportsmanship!

Bug's Birthday Party

Bug's had a Lady Bug birthday party to celebrate her turning 2!

Here is the cute cake that mommy made.

Are you having fun at your birthday party? Everyone came to see you! A little overwhelming maybe?
Overall Bugs did very well with all of the people there. She did really good opening all of her presents! She was very interested in them and never got bored (like at Christmas). She loved all of the cute clothes she got. I guess it is a girl thing, because Brother asked why she got so many clothes. Obviously he wasn't very impressed. One funny story; Grandma C. had also brought a present for Brother and happened to stick it with all of the other presents. It was wrapped in Spiderman paper and of course that is the first present Bugs went for! I guess you can tell that she has an older brother.

Bugs with the two grandma's.
Super cute party guests!

How does the cake taste?

Happy Birthday Bugs! We love you very much as you bring such a joy to our lives.

Grass Buddy

Isn't he just super cute! I want to go back to Kindergarten.
